A harmadik rész onnan folytatódik, ahonnan a második befejeződött, vagyis Konstantin megjelenik a semmiből Bryn mellett. (aki épp szökésben van, mert a saját királynője, Mina vérdíjat tűzött ki a fejére, és koholt vádakkal eteti a népet) Mint kiderült, végig követte a lányt. Konstantin elmondja neki, hogy elege van Viktorból és a vérontásból, amit maga mögött hagy. Bár ezt a főnöke még nem tudja... de az volt az utasítás, hogy vadássza le Brynt, szóval igyekszik egy kis időt nyerni. 

Tanakodnak, hogyan lehetne Minát leállítani, így ellátogatnak az Omtekhoz, abban bízva, hogy majd segítenek nekik. Hát nem... Meg micsoda vendégszerető egy nép az övék... (bezárták Brynt és Konstantint egy zárkába, és étlen- szomjan kellett várniuk arra, hogy az Omte királynő fogadja őket...Oké, hogy mindkettő szökevény volt, de akkor is...)

Közben kapcsolatba lép telefonon Ridley-val, aki azt mondja neki, hogy menjenek el Föreningbe a Tryllekhez, mert a királynő egészen biztosan ad neki amnesztiát. Ezek a részek nagyon tetszettek. Jó volt látni, hogy mi lett Lokival és Wendyvel. No meg ugye Finn is többet szerepelt ebben a könyvben. Bryn később elmegy egy isten háta mögötti kis helyre, Iskylaba, hogy felderítse Mina múltját. Ott kiderül, amit én már akkor sejtettem egy ideje. Ugh, aztán jött egy csúnya medve, és jól szétcincálta főhősünket. (ezt nem igazán tartottam lényegesnek...) No para, ezt is túlélte! ;) Közben persze Mina háborút indít Skojare ellen, szóval a trollok összefognak, ki itt, ki ott, (Trlle és Vittra Skojare mellé áll, míg az Omte a Kanin mellé) hogy megpróbálják legyőzni a Kanin királynét meg a rejtélyes Vikort. Izgalmas volt, bár könnyen kiszámítható.

Az írónő kicsit trónok harcásra vette a stílust, mert több főbb karakter is olyan hirtelen és csúnya halált halt, hogy csak pislogtam, hogy ez mi volt? (4-5 halál biztosan volt, és ez csak a jó szereplőké) Bár jó húzás volt, én jobban szeretem, ha nem hal meg senki a könyvekben. <3 

Ami tetszett, az az, hogy betekintést nyerhettünk minden troll csoportba. (A Vittra és a Trylle jobban megimerhető a Trylle trilógiában, de keveset itt is meg lehet róluk tudni.) Ami kicsit sok volt nekem, hogy olyan sok karakter volt benne, hogy a felét sem tudtam megjegyezni. (csak Iskylaban volt legalább 3 új karakter, akikkel aztán nem sokat találkoztam, Ullát leszámítva.) Hiányoltam egy összefoglaló térképet, mert jó lett volna látni, hogy a különböző troll népek merre helyezkednek el. (volt róla szó, hogy ki merre van, de vizuálisan is jó lett volna látni)

★★★★☆ csillagot kap a lezárás is, így az egész sorozat is ★★★★☆ végül. 

Érdemes elolvasni azoknak, akik szeretik a fantasyt és a trollokat (ne a tipikus trollok jussanak eszetekbe, mert itt csak max az omte nép olyan, a többiek teljesen máshogy néznek ki, és más képességeik vannak.) és a tiltott szerelmeket, királyos történeteket, akkor nekik tetszeni fog! Vagy, ha már eleve ismerik Amanda Hocking munkásságát. :)

The King is dead.

“When I saw the missed call on my phone, I thought it had to be you.” “How are you?” I asked. “How is everything?” “Everything is . . . not good.” He sounded pained. “Everything’s falling apart, Bryn.

“I can’t talk long, and I don’t want to spend this time arguing with you. I just called to tell you that you need to go to Förening and see the Trylle.”

“Ember talked to her brother, and he thinks that you might be able to sway the King and Queen into granting you amnesty.”

...

“Are you sure that the Trylle will give you amnesty?” Konstantin asked, retreading a conversation we’d had a dozen times since I’d told him about Ridley’s phone call. “No, I’m not sure. But I trust that Ridley and Ember wouldn’t send me somewhere to get hurt.”

Finn smiled for a moment. “She’s a fair Queen, and there’s no reason for you to worry.” “Thanks.” I smiled back at him. “I’ll try not to.”

Finn pushed open two massive doors with vines carved into them. I’d been here once before, when I’d visited Förening as part of a field trip in tracker school and had been given a tour of the palace.

Queen Wendy Staad sat in the throne, wearing a long flowing gown. The fabric was a deep evergreen, nearly black, but there was something iridescent about it, so when she moved, it would shimmer and change color.

In Förening, Finn had gotten me a motorcycle, a few troll maps, and given me what money he could. I’d tried to decline the offer of money, but the truth was that I was running low on the cash Ridley had gotten me, and I needed the funds.

I had made it to Iskyla. Now I just had to find somebody who would talk to me about Mina.

“The only plan I ever really knew about was when Mina came to me and said she was going to a ball where she would make the King fall in love with her. It seemed ludicrous.

“Finn has always been the cautious one.” Wendy laughed lightly, then turned her eyes onto me.

It had been nearly two months since Linus had first arrived in Doldastam, and in that short time he’d already grown and changed so much, even though he was barely eighteen.

Astrid screamed when she saw me, but her eyes were wide with excitement. “I told you she was here!” Astrid squealed.

After losing Ember, I knew I had to get to Ridley as soon as possible. I couldn’t waste any more time killing Omte or helping anyone. I couldn’t let him die because I’d been busy somewhere else.

“Son of a bitch,” Konstantin said, and I looked over to see him coming in from a corridor off to the left of the hall. He looked up at Bloom, shaking his head. “What?” I looked up to make sure Bloom was okay, but the horse seemed fine. “I told you that you couldn’t come in riding on a horse like a white knight, and so you had to go and prove me wrong.” He smirked at me.

“I’m sorry, white rabbit,” he whispered, and shut the doors. I heard a soft clicking sound, and I realized too late that he’d locked me inside the armoire. “I want you safe this time.”

While Linus Berling had been officially crowned three days ago in a private ceremony in the palace, today was meant to be his public coronation and an official celebration for the end of the war.

King Mikko and Queen Linnea Biâelse sat in the front row, along with King Loki and Queen Wendy Staad of the Trylle and Queen Sara Elsing of the Vittra, all of them honored guests of the Kanin because of their help in the war.

As one of his first acts as King, Linus had appointed me as his personal guard, and I’d accepted because I thought I could help steer the kingdom in the right direction and I could protect the King from corruption.
