Amanda Hocking 1984. július 12-én született, és Austinban, Minnesotában nőtt fel. Attól a pillanattól tudta, hogy író szeretne lenni, mióta megtanult írni. Amanda leginkább YA, urban fantasy és paranormal romance témájú könyveket ír. A középiskola után nem ment egyből főiskolára, de amikor végül jelentkezett, humán erőforrás szakra vették fel. 2010-ben kezdett el publikálni, ekkor 25 éves volt. Azóta több, mint 20 regényt adott már ki, ebből sok szerepelt a New York Times Bestseller listáján. Jelenleg Rochesterben, Minnesotában él férjével, fogadott fiával, egy csincsillával, két kutyával és három macskával.
